Venford Class

Pennywell Farm Christmas Nativity

Pupils from Meldon and Venford Class were treated to a special trip to Pennywell Farm and got to join in their own nativity play with real animals.¬† Most of the children dressed up in costumes and acted out the Christmas Story in a barn.¬† Afterwards they had a drink and biscuit and also went to visit Father Christmas. Many thanks to FOSMs (Friends of St Mary’s) Fundraising committee that subsidised the cost of this trip.

Venford Class Outdoor Education

Pupils in Year 1 and Year 2 have all taken part in outdoor education sessions which enriched their learning across the curriculum.  Children participated in a range of activities including storytelling, scavenger hunting, learning about the conservation of habitats and developing team building skills.

Bug Hunting

Pupils from Venford Class have been ‘bug hunting’ as part of their topic, which has involved learning all about mini-beasts and their different life cycles.

Butterfly release

Venford Class have been taking care of some caterpillars as part of their ‘minibeasts’ topic. ¬†Pupils were excited to discover¬†that the caterpillars turned into chrysalises, which after a short time in hatched into beautiful butterflies that were released in the school grounds.
