Sing2Sing 2014

Children again took part in the Sign2Sing fundraiser for the charity Sign Health.

The event is now in its 4th year –the school took part last year and was pleased with the response and support received, so were keen to take part again this year.

Children learnt to sing and sign some songs to help them to prepare for the event, with the help of the Sign2Sing website. The song was performed by the whole school along with many thousands of other children across the country.  Everyone was asked to donate £1 for taking part in the event. Children and staff also wore a scarf when they took part in Sign2Sing, like Olli the monkey who is the mascot for the Sign2Sing charity.

As well as raising money for the charity, events such as this also raise an awareness of deafness and British Sign Language amongst our pupils and help them to think about how they would communicate with someone who couldn’t hear.

The money will be used by the charity to help to improve the health and well-being of deaf children and adults. SignHealth has been established for more than 20 years and works to improve the health and wellbeing of deaf people and help them to live independently. It supports a range of services and projects including counselling and improving the communication between medical professionals and deaf people.
