St Mary's Victorian Day

Pupils celebrated the end of their Victorian topic in a very special way – by taking part in a Victorian day in school. The day was especially poignant as the date chosen, December 4th, was 122 years to the day since the school first opened. Using the original log book and photographs of the first pupils, each of the pupils took the name of one of the first pupils at the school and learnt about what life would have been like using information from the school archives. Pupils dressed up as Victorians for the day and took part in a number of activities including using slates for handwriting, rote learning and drill practice in the playground. Mrs Evans and Mrs Bradford also got into role for the day!
