Burrator Class investigated bridges and learnt about Isambard Kingdom Brunel, a famous Victorian engineer as part of their design technology work. Pupils considered the most effective structures and worked as a team to plan and create their own bridges, which they then evaluated.
Burrator’s Victorian Day
To experience what it was like being a Victorian school child, Burrator Class pupils dressed and behaved in the same way as Victorian school children. The day was filled with activities that Victorian children would have carried out, including practising handwriting and learning times tables.
Handbells
A local handbell group came into school to work with Burrator Class. They performed some traditional Christmas carols and allowed the pupils to play the handbells. Pupil librarians
Our Year 6 School Librarians have received training from professional librarian, Carolyn, who works for the Devon Schools’ Library Service.
