Science lessons have focussed on light this term and pupils have had the opportunity to discover practically how light is made up of different colours and split it into these colours using prisms.

As part of their topic on Africa, Burrator Class have visited Paignton Zoo to learn more about animals that live in the continent and took part in a workshop as well as seeing some of these animals for themselves.

Burrator Class have taken part in a range of outdoor education sessions, some of which have enhanced their learning in other subject areas and others have served to develop their understanding of their local natural environment and learn about how to protect it.  Some pupils also completed their John Muir Award and were successfully presented… Read more »

Following the fantastic efforts of the Enterprise Fete, Burrator pupils decided to donate some of the money raised to the British Heart Foundation, with the remainder being used to pay for a class trip to Crealy.  Everyone had a wonderful day, despite feeling a bit sick after being on the some of the rides!

Pupils in Year 5 and Year 6 took part in Bikeability sessions with Gideon, our cycling instructor.  Pupils took part in five sessions during the week to build their confidence in cycling and in road safety.

Pupils in Year 6 have had the opportunity to work towards the Torbay and Devon Civic Award by completing a number of community-based activities in their own time.  Three of the pupils put forward portfolios detailing the activities they had completed and were interviewed by Paddy Mahon, one of our school governors and Alison Gagg,… Read more »

Pupils in Burrator Class worked alongside a theatre company to create a ‘play in a day’ – Greece Lightning which was all about life in Ancient Greece.  The children spent a few days perfecting the show, which was then performed for the rest of the school and parents/carers.

Each pupil in Burrator Class was handed £5 at the start of the week and given the challenge of working as a team to generate a profit from their money at the school Enterprise Fete.  Teams had to present their ideas to their fellow pupils and persuade them that their idea was the best.  In… Read more »
