Fernworthy, Burrator and Venford Classes have all prepared learning afternoons. The children shared their learning through teaching others about what they have recently learnt. Invaders and Settlers
Fernworthy Class have been learning all about Invaders and Settlers. As part of this history topic, pupils replicated Anglo-Saxon weaving techniques. The class also attended an Anglo Saxon workshop at Buckfast Abbey’s Education Department, which involved studying a range of artefacts. Egyptians topic
Fernworthy Class have been learning all about The Egyptians as part of their topic work. They celebrated the end of their topic with a special dance they had been learning.

Pupils in Fernworthy held a special learning afternoon for parents/ carers to celebrate what they had learnt as part of their Egyptians topic. Kent’s Cavern
Fernworthy Class visited Kent’s Cavern in Torquay as part of their topic about the Stone Age.
Rainforests
Fernworthy Class have been learning about the rainforests. This included participating in rainforest role play in the woodland area, home learning themed rainforest activities and art and literacy rainforest themed activities.
Cycle training
Some pupils in Fernworthy Class took part in a cycling day, to improve their skills and learn a bit more about staying safe when they are out on the roads.
Escot Viking Experience
Pupils from Fernworthy Class visited the Viking village at Escot. During their visit, they learnt about the sort of houses Vikings would have lived in, tool making skills and even had a go at grinding wheat and making some bread.
Fernworthy’s Music Share Day
Year Three and Year Four pupils from seven local feeder primary schools today joined at South Dartmoor Community College for a celebration of music making currently taking place in schools and beyond.
