To celebrate the end of their Pirate topic, Meldon Class held a special pirate day with lots of different activities – pupils even had the opportunity to walk the plank!
Meldon Class have grown lots of vegetables in their new vegetable garden. So far this year they have harvested broad beans, potatoes and purple sprouting.
Fernworthy, Burrator and Venford Classes have all prepared learning afternoons. The children shared their learning through teaching others about what they have recently learnt. Fernworthy ran a Roman afternoon, where they demonstrated a Roman battle march and even had also had special Roman food to try! Meldon Class took a trip on the steam train to visit the Rare Breeds Farm in Totnes. The class had been learning about transport and were very excited to go on a real train – for some children it was their very first trip on a train!

To celebrate the end of their ‘Bears’ topic, Meldon pupils invited parents and carers to their Teddy Bears’ Picnic.
To encourage reading in Meldon and Venford Classes, St Mary’s have run the RED TED scheme in school – Read Every Day, Talk Every Day. Each time a child reads with an adult and it is signed in their reading record book, they earn points towards prizes which are then presented in our Achievement Assembly… Read more »
This year our EYFS class, Meldon, performed a nativity for the school and parents/ carers. We learnt about nocturnal animals and read the story of ‘Owl babies’. Mr Taylor brought in his falcon and talked about birds of prey – where they live, how they eat and how they fly.
