Hampton Court Flower Show
Congratulations to our gardeners who grew Garvineas for the Hampton Court Flower Show. Here is a selection of the plants that our ‘green-fingered’ pupils produced.
Road Safety Skills
Police Community Support Officer Tamzin Campbell-Mosely visited St Mary’s to carry out road safety talks with all of the pupils. The children benefited from role playing some of the situations that they may encounter when crossing the road and even got to sit in a police car and try out the siren!
Venford visits Dinosaur World
Pupils visited the Dinosaur World Exhibition in Torquay, where the children saw lots of scaled-down and full size dinosaur models. In addition, the children found out about what it was like when dinosaurs roamed the earth and discovered lots of information about their natural habitats.
Silver Gilt Award Presentation
Two of our school councillors were invited to Bradley Barton Primary School in Newton Abbot for a special presentation of a Silver Gilt medal, following St Mary’s success at Chelsea Flower Show. Visit by author – Peter J Davidson
Pupils were entertained by Peter J Davidson, famous fossil hunter, dinosaur enthusiast, inventor and author of the Professor P series of books. Crolf Tournament
Some of our pupils from Year 5 and 6 were invited to take part in a Crolf Tournament at Stover School. The game of Crolf is a mixture of golf and croquet with a strong emphasis on etiquette and sportsmanship. Environmental Week
St Mary’s held an Environmental Week in which children had the opportunity to take part in a range of activities including recycling workshops, bushcraft, forest school activities and a range of science and art workshops using different scrap materials. Eco-conference
Pupils were invited to Ashburton Primary School to attend their Eco-conference. Pupils from neighbouring schools were asked to share their ideas with others and participate in a range of workshops involving recycling, composting, bread making, husbandry and caring for wild birds. Pupils at St Mary’s are growing a selection of plants for the Chelsea Flower Show. The school have been working in partnership with Fermoy’s garden centre to grow seeds in the hope of producing plants which are worthy of display at the prestigious flower show.
