Alan, a local tennis coach, offers lunchtime tennis lessons for children aged between Year 2 and Year 6. Pupils from St Mary’s joined with other schools from Dartmoor Sports Partnership for a tennis tournament at South Dartmoor Community College. Neither team from St Mary’s had played in a tennis tournament before, yet one team managed to come second in their group, showing how well they played during each of the matches.

Pupils took part in golf sessions after school, improving their skills with the help of professional golfing coach Mark Cayless from Dainton Golf Club at Ipplepen, Newton Abbot. The final session was held at the club itself and gave pupils the opportunity to experience what it is like to play on a real golf course.

Year 1 and 2 pupils attended a Key Stage 1 sports festival at South Dartmoor Community College, along with lots of other schools who are also part of our local sports partnership. The children participated in a range of activities competing in ‘friendly’ races against other pupils.
