Buckfast Abbey Easter Workshops

Each of the classes visited the Education Centre at Buckfast Abbey to take in Easter workshops. The older pupils had an Easter Egg hunt around the Abbey whilst Meldon class listened to the Easter story.

Mental Health Ambassadors

Working with Devon’s Early Help for Metal Health (EH4MH) Team, Year 5 pupils have been with Melody from EH4MH to train to become Mental Health Ambassadors. Everyone received a certificate and a badge to show that they had passed the course! Following the really successful ‘It’s OK to be different week’, our new Mental Health Ambassadors will be working with Miss Slack over the coming terms to look at ways of improving our school.

During our ‘It’s OK to be different week’, pupils in Burrator Class were invited to the ‘REConnect’ event at Buckfast Abbey’s Education Centre.  It is an annual event which gives pupils from local schools the chance to reflect on the bigger questions in life, using a range of different thought-provoking stations.

In preparation for Advent, pupils created classroom displays with advent wreaths.  In our school foyer we had a ‘Kindness Tree’ encouraging people to do one kind thing each day in the lead up to Christmas.  Some of our classrooms had their own ‘kindness calendars’ too.

Meldon Nativity

This year our EYFS class, Meldon, performed a nativity for the school and parents/ carers.  All of the children worked very hard to prepare for the performance and were brave to perform in front of so many people.  The event went very well and reminded everyone about the Christmas story and the real meaning of Christmas.
