Venford Class

Multi-skills tournament

Pupils from Venford Class joined with other schools to take part in a multi-skills tournament.  The morning was a real success as pupils enjoyed meeting new people and learning new skills.

Devon County Show Scarecrow Competition

Pupils in Venford designed and created their own scarecrow from recycled materials and entered this in the Devon County Show.

Venford's trip to Dawlish Warren

Venford visited Dawlish Warren to find out more about the different mini-beasts who live in the warren and also in the pond there. Although it was a very wet day, lots of living things were collected and identified with the help of our ranger. The most popular part of the trip for many children was the woodland area where there were lots of tiny toads. Mrs Cherrett also found an large adult toad on the path.

Learning afternoons

Fernworthy, Burrator and Venford Classes have all prepared learning afternoons. The children shared their learning through teaching others about what they have recently learnt. Fernworthy ran a Roman afternoon, where they demonstrated a Roman battle march and even had also had special Roman food to try! Venford had a special afternoon about their ‘It’s F..f..freezing’ topic and pupils worked together as ‘teams’ of experts.  In Burrator, pupils talked to parents and carers from across the school about maths, explaining how it is taught and what children are expected to know in different year groups. There was also the chance for the adults to try out some SATs questions!

Maths measuring

Pupils in Venford Class have enjoyed experimenting with capacity and weight problems in their practical maths sessions.
