Venford Class

CAP sessions

Pupils across the school had the opportunity to take part in three CAP sessions (Child Assault Prevention), organised and run by a team from the Devon Community Project CAP UK. CAP’s mission is to keep children Safe, Strong and Free, so the team works with the whole school community towards reducing children’s vulnerability to abuse, equipping children with skills and strategies necessary to stay safe and to grow up to be strong and confident young people, respecting their own and others’ rights.

Carol Service and Crib Blessings

Pupils from Venford, Fernworthy and Burrator all took part in our annual Carol Service in Buckfast Abbey Church. Each class also led a special Crib Blessing in each of the parish churches during December. Our Art Club kindly made sheep and angels to decorate the cribs with.

Venford's Nativity at Pennywell

Pupils at St Mary’s were invited to participate in a special live nativity at Pennywell which was filmed by the BBC for an episode of Songs of Praise.

Apple Day

To celebrate the harvest of apples from our school orchard, St Mary’s held an Apple Day where children took part in apple tasting activities and used an apple press to produce their own apple juice. Each class also produced printed artwork around the theme of apples.

Multi-skills tournament

Pupils from Venford Class joined with other schools to take part in a multi-skills tournament.  The morning was a real success as pupils enjoyed meeting new people and learning new skills.
