A touch of Hollywood

A little touch of Hollywood came to the unlikely venue of Buckfast Abbey as local schoolchildren got to see the ‘world premiere’ of a film they have made.  The film has been made to showcase St Mary’s Catholic Primary School Buckfast to prospective parents, which is available on the home page of the school website.   As well as developing the film, the children also wrote it, starred in it and did much of the filming. They were helped by Michael Davies from Buckfast Media Studios and Alison Gagg and Anna Harris from Buckfast Abbey’s Education Department. Alison, Education Manager for the Abbey said “Some of the pupils had worked with our team last year to produce a film promoting the work of this department, and they so caught the filming bug that they wanted to do it again. But this time they wanted to make it about themselves. We were delighted to be able to help them.”

To celebrate, the whole school with their parents and teachers watched the seven minute film for the first time on the big screen in the Abbey’s Conference Centre. It was a glitzy, red carpet occasion and many of the pupils and staff dressed in their finery for the film debut.
