A member of the local Dogs Trust came to St Mary’s to teach the pupils about staying safe around dogs, both those that are known to them and unknown dogs who they may see in the park or outside school.  Pupils learnt different techniques and role played these e.g. standing still if a dog runs towards you, always asking an adult before approaching a dog.  Pupils were also shown how to protect themselves and become like a ‘hedgehog’ if they are ever attacked by a dog.

We also learnt about those dogs that are abandoned by their owners and are cared for by the Dogs Trust charity.
