Gardeners at St Mary’s Catholic Primary School have been working hard this term and were thrilled to have been awarded the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Level 4 and a prize which included a selection of different seeds that can be grown and are worth over £100.  The children have been working steadily through the awards, organised by the RHS and for their level 4 they needed to demonstrate a number of skills including the ability to use tools like a professional gardener, protection of plans and how to harvest their produce.   As part of the award, the children also cooked the produce that they had grown and discovered how to care for the other living things that may use the outdoor areas such as small mammals, insects and birds.  The children are now busily preparing for their Level 5 award which is the final level available.
