Along with children from across the country, pupils in Burrator are taking part in some scientific experiments in conjunction with the company Miracle Gro. The idea is to encourage pupils to take part in gardening, whilst carrying out scientific research based around growing fruit and vegetables. This time, St Mary’s has been asked to grow carrots and cabbages in different soils and with different fertilisers to see if this has any effect on the weight of the vegetables. In the Spring term, pupils will weigh the cabbages and carrots produced and send the results to Miracle Gro. The school cookery club will then be able to enjoy cooking these vegetables in some tasty recipes!
