Welcome to Meldon: Our Foundation Stage at

St. Mary’s Catholic Primary School

At St. Mary’s Catholic Primary School, we welcome children aged 3 to 11 years. Our Foundation Stage Unit and Reception Class, known as Meldon, is thoughtfully organised to provide a seamless learning environment for children from 3 to 5 years old. Our setting offers free-flow access to indoor classrooms and two covered outdoor areas, along with a dedicated playground, climbing frame, orchard, and wildlife area for exploration and play.

We understand that each family has unique needs, which is why we offer a variety of sessions to accommodate you and your child. Foundation Stage sessions run from 8:45 am to 12:00 pm, and from 12:00pm to 3:15pm, five days a week. For those attending the midday session, children can either bring a packed lunch or enjoy one of our delicious school meals, which can be arranged by contacting the school office.

Our approach embraces the highest standards of Early Years education, fostering a safe, happy, and nurturing environment where children can learn, develop, and grow at their own pace. Children progress through the Foundation Stage guided by the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework. Our curriculum is topic-based, focusing on learning through play, allowing each child to explore and discover in a meaningful way.
